delicious ice cream and huge portions! these are both 'small' soft serves. we also ordered a small hard serve (coffee) and it had like 2 giant scoops of ice cream. the blueberry soft serve is a MUST! it was so good, i went back twice!

The floofy brown haired cashier with glasses did a wonderful job scooping my large blueberry cone. He did so pleasantly, despite the hurricane-like conditions outside. If I could, I’d give Blueberry Hill a 6/5 star review because the customer service and ice cream quality is just that good!

We were looking for ice cream on our way out of Acadia. We stopped here and got hard serve. The portions were a bit small and pricey, but still good. I think the portions are better for soft serve.

Great ice cream both soft serve & hard ice cream. The prices were pretty high even though the servings were semi generous. It was very busy & a little unorganized. But if your craving a good refreshing treat...stop by.

First stop at Ellsworth before heading to Bar Harbor the next day. Reviews are true, small is large here, especially to New Yorkers. We ordered the vanilla soft serve and the Maine blueberry flavor. The soft serve is very smooth and creamy, and the blueberry one is very fresh and fruity! Much jam inside! Def worth a stop for a delightful night snack!

Best ice cream ever. My fave is normally peppermint but out of it tonight. Got Sea Salt Caramel instead.. Very good.

We had the blueberry soft serve and the cone servings were huge and delicious. Note that they only accept cash, and while the gas station directly across the street has an ATM, it was out of service when we were there. There is a bank just down the street and the turn for the Walmart, but the charge $4 to get your cash. Of you bank doesn't reimburse those fees (ours does) that it's a bit pricey.

I NEVER give anyone 5 stars, but this was delicious soft serve ice cream. Everyone in our party had something different and everybody was happy. Very friendly staff!!

This place has good ice cream, but the service was horrible. The girl that was making the ice cream was too busy talking to guys and made our order incorrectly. When we asked her if she could correct it, she rolled her eyes and kept telling us it was right and basically was trying to get rid of us. We spoke to the manager who refunded our money without apologizing or anything for the rude service. We have been here one time before and will say that this place has really good ice cream, but this time the service was not worth it.

We were staying in the area on vacation and had passed by this spot on the way into Bar Harbor each day. One of our last days in the area, after getting gas across the street, we decided to check this little shop out and we were definitely glad we did! My wife and I shared an order of blueberry ice cream, which was really great! There's a good amount of blueberry flavor in it, and it's very smooth and soft.

A traditional, simple, and good side-of-the-road ice cream stop. They have about 4 soft-serve flavors and about a dozen "hard-scoop" flavors. The waffle cones are fresh and tasty, banana splits, brownie bowls, and shakes if that is your thing. There is a small grassy area if you want to enjoy it there, but seating is limited (most likely due to COVID)

Can't review them since the hours listed are wrong. Went last night (Wednesday) at 830pm. Hours listed until 9pm. Everything shut down and all lights off. What time do they close???

Best ice-cream in Maine! We tried almost all the ice cream places in Bar Harbor and this was the best. Their blueberry soft serve twisted with raspberry was amazing!! Everyone was very friendly and helpful.

Fresh local flavors, delicious French Vanilla ice cream, really special blueberry crumble froyo. Thanks to Sam, an Ellsworth high school senior working at Gateway, for sending us to annoy her brother at his job!

Giffords Ice Cream at premium price. The service was astonishingly poor, with many flavors sold out and staff who didn’t seem to care. The backyard seating area is fun for kids.

5 star ice cream and portions. 1 star on safety conscience! NO employees wore masks! All customers wore masks! Please, please! For all of your customers sake, employees, start wearing masks!!

I used to love going to Blueberry Hill every summer, but when I saw that the women working there weren’t wearing masks I was disappointed. I won’t be going again. Everyone should be wearing masks, especially those who work in food service. There’s no excuse.

Poor customer service. Substituted items without warning and give an attitude, complete with an eye-roll when I asked them to fix it. This is the second time they have substituted strawberry flavoring for strawberry ice cream without telling me. 24$ for three milkshakes that were still incorrect after they were fixed because she "couldn't" make them thick. Hit or miss with employees here. Some of them do it perfectly without an attitude!

Blueberry Hill in Ellsworth is our favorite ice cream stand. Period. Giffords Ice Cream -in my opinion the best ice cream in Maine - is generously served up with served up by local youngsters at a very modest price! Cones come in three sizes and before you decide on the "large" you'd better be seriously in need of a massive ice cream infusion! Order outside at one window and pick up at the other window. Cash only. They have a small inside sit-down area, but most opt to go around to the side or rear and enjoy the outside Maine weather while the kids play on the modest playground area. Plenty of areas nearby to walk the dog if needed. Hint: get the Wild Maine Blueberry hard-serve....

Ice cream was good, with nice size portions. Took forever to get our ice cream. Ordered at one window and then waited with about 25 other people for our orders. I can't blame the 2 young girls they had working, those girls were moving and cranking it out. There should have been more workers.

Just like I remembered! Took my family here for the first time since I moved and they loved it!! My daughter had the cotton candy on a cone, my husband had the peanut butter Explosion flurry and I had black raspberry choc chip on a waffle cone. All excellent! They both couldn't stop saying how good theirs were! I have a feeling we will be back before heading back down South!

Standard soft serve and hard ice cream for cones. A few extra soft serve flavors, such as blueberry. Both types are excellent. Be aware their small is bigger than most folk's large. If you're in the area a must visit. No inside seating, order from the window, and restrooms.

Delicious, sumptuous, simply excellent ice cream (mine was the black raspberry chocolate chip) and superb customer service. I messed up and grabbed the wrong order, but they just said no problem and gave me the right thing and made another one for the poor customer I ripped off by accident. However, you have to eat the ice cream inside (your car or the seating area) otherwise you'll be eaten alive by the most vicious mosquitoes on this side of the country (the only worse experience was in Alaska in July).

Blueberry Hill Dairy Bar is a must stop everytime I come to visit the Bar Harbor & Ellsworth area from Texas. I came here as a kid and they still have huge portions and great ice cream. I just have to teach my kids to ask for Jimmys not sprinkles.

Not too excited about the Red Skinned Hotdogs. Intention was there, large serving but no taste, best change the hot dogs! Dairy Bar serves a mean Root Beer Float! Reminds yoy of the good ole' days! Friendly staff, clean place; aim to please!

Best. Ice cream. Ever. No kidding. I have never been to an ice cream parlor that has more soft serve options, including blueberry soft serve! The blueberry hard serve is also wonderful! If you want a small portion forget it, the smalls are the size of your head, and for a very inexpensive price! Ice cream lovers dream right here! I have absolutely never been disappointed with this ice cream. It is usually always packed, for a very good reason. I 10 out of 10 recommend Blue Berry Hill Dairy Bar. Pictured below are small hard serve and small soft serve!

I had Gifford's. Moose Tracks, small serving. In a cup, and it was more than this adult was comfortable eating. But it's the smallest serving, so go hungry or willing to share.

I absolutely love this place. It's hands down one of the best places for ice cream in the Ellsworth area, However, the less than stellar staff make me dread even walking up to the window. Most of the teenage staff seem to hate their job. They behave as if they would rather be anywhere else, and I catch them giving me the side eye when they think no one is watching. To top it all off, I've overheard them talking about how they "hit the dab pen" while at work. Very unprofessional.

Very nice folks working there, we had the Maine Black Bear (I think) which was vanilla with raspberry swirl and little chocolate raspberry bears in it. It was wonderful, as evidenced by little one screaming for more!

Always a very nice place to stop I have 7 children and the staff has always been polite and friendly I grew up in Ellsworth and have always loved the ice cream and service they provide recommend to everyone to make a stop in and check out all the flavors

Seams as if the people working this year are rude the frist time i went this year we ordered 5 ice creams and that when ok the we were getting our ice cream and that had started to go ok but theni went to get the banana boat the girl that handed it to me was rude then i gave it to my boyfriend and went to get mine and got mine fine but when i got back to the car the banana boat was all wrong it was drowning in whip cream and 2 out of the 3 scoops were wrong and he had only noticed it after eating half a scoop and when i brought it back the girl was extremely rude and said when i brought (what is wrong with it ) isaid this is not how we ordered this could you please fix it so then says to me (well i didnt make it) then closed the window in my face and went to making a new one so i walked back to my car to wait but was thinking i shouldn't matter who made it and this dose not cover the second time i went and last year in the frist month we went 15 times and never got treated like that thanks for reading sorry its so long

First of all, the ice cream was amazing. There were 6 of us and every one loved what they got. So why the bad review? The guy that waited on us was rude not only to us, but in the way he was treating & talking to his fellow co-workers. Power trip or bad day, I'm not sure, but you don't treat others like that, ever. I'm very disappointed in what we witnessed & experienced.
